Zid
Star Cast: Karanvir Sharma, Mannara, Shraddha Das
Director: Vivek Agnihotri
What’s Good: The basic plotline had some mettle.
What’s Bad: The predictability of the story, the climax, the anti climax.
Loo break: Hide in the loo if you don’t want to inflict wounds on your sensibility.
Benaras Mediaworks' Zid is an adaptation of the German film The Good Neighbour that tells the thrilling story of Ronnie, a crime reporter who works as a writer in a local newspaper in Goa, and his young neighbor Maya who falls obsessively in love with him...
Bollywood films have many a times thrived on the very famous but true saying 'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned'. Keeping this as a central point, there have been many filmmakers who have tried their luck at the Box-Office. While some have succeeded, some did not. This week's release ZID treads on the same path with the addition of suspense. Does the film manage to pull in the audience with the time tested subject and that too with a handful of newcomers, let's analyze.
ZID starts off with a flashback which has the film's protagonist Rohan (Karanvir Sharma), who is a crime reporter by profession, narrating an incident to his newspaper's editor (Mohan Kapoor) and the area's DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police). He says that with the help of the editor, he found a rented house at his friend's outhouse. Even though the said place looks haunted, Rohan still adjusts himself to the situation despite having 'an absolute motionless and emotionless owner' who is wheel chair driven throughout and who also happens to be the father of Maya (debutante Manara). For Manara, it is love at first sight when she sees Rohan, who incidentally is 'recovering' from a breakup with Priya (Shraddha Das), his girlfriend of many years and who is now settled in London. While Maya leaves no stone unturned to get Rohan's attention, Rohan seems to be still 'lost in love' about Priya. One fateful night, when Rohan and Maya are returning drunk from the party, their car meets with an accident when it collides with a bike which was being driven by a lady named Nancy, who 'incidentally' happens to be Priya's step sister. But fearing the police and the law, both, Rohan and Maya prefer to bury the incident and remain mum and do not tell anyone about the same. The story takes a new turn when the police discover that Nancy wasn't killed in the accident, but was murdered by strangulation. That's when Priya comes back to India from London to hunt for Nancy's killers. But when Maya discovers Rohan and Priya's past, she sets out to finish off Priya as her love for Rohan now becomes an obsession. What forms the actual outcome is the real suspense of the film.
Is jealousy leading her to murder those close to Rohan or is it all a botched up plan of Rohan and Priya to resolve permanently some old sibling rivalries?
In nutshell,Zid is not cringe worthy, just plain boring. Selling itself in the garb of a few explicit shots, the film’s fabric did not back itself in a solid enough story. It doesn’t have anything exemplary about it, not its acting, story or the chemistry between its lead pair. The worst thing about Zid was its climax that was downright silly. It’s almost like a bunch of intelligent people thought of doing a crash course in making a silly film and Zid was made. I am going with a very kind Rating of 1 star.

Happy Ending
Genre:Romantic-Comedy
Cast:Saif Ali Khan, Ileana D'Cruz, Kalki Koechlin, Govinda, Ranvir Shorey
Director:Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK
It is never a particularly good idea to marry a Happy Ending to a rash of loose ends, but the result that the director duo of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK extract from this quirky and risky exercise is none-too-unhappy. From last year's zom-com Go Goa Gone to this crazy "comedy about romantic comedies", the directors haven't really shifted gears quite to the extent that they might appear to have done. They are still into crafting whimsical, Bollywood-style send-ups of popular Hollywood genres. In the rather patchy but inoffensive Happy Ending, the narrative style is bright and breezy enough to help them paper over the flaws in the screenplay. And the tone they adopt here is much less zany than the one they did in Go Goa Gone, and so this film is infinitely easier to relate to. Happy Ending enmeshes the wildly absurd with the mildly funny to deliver two-and-a-quarter hours of harmless entertainment that does not overly try the audience's patience despite the many holes that it is riddled with.It mocks the filmic concept of the "till death do us part" kind of love. The commitment-phobic male protagonist at the heart of the film's plot falls in and out of love as if it were a swimming pool.
The film also takes humorous jabs at how commercial films are conceptualized and written in the Mumbai industry. And Happy Ending of course seeks to show up the futility of the honeyed dreams that romantic comedies peddle to a gullible audience. For producer and lead actor Saif Ali Khan, Happy Ending represents a breezy rejig of his Hum Tum and Salaam Namaste persona of a decade ago. The confused philanderer act that he attempted with mixed results in the more recent Cocktail now appears well past its sell-by date. Yet, the many collegiate hook-ups and break-ups he pulls off in Happy Ending do not look completely at odds with the film's purpose.
Happy Ending seeks to have us believe that there are no happy endings in real life. So, when we meet our man Yudi Jaitley, Los Angeles-based one-book wonder, his bestseller has dropped off the shelves of bookstores been put in the cut-price corner. What's worse, his bank balance has sunk dangerously low and he has defaulted on his car loan repayment. The swanky red crock is towed away and he is in grave danger of losing "the fame, money and girls" that he has had for the asking all these years.
It is five and a half years since his book was published, and in this period he has dated eight and a half girls. With the ninth one, his dentist (Kalki Koechlin), he is, as always, in two minds. So the lady puts a tracker app on her mobile to constantly monitor his whereabouts.A voluble Mumbai film producer (Govinda) lands in Los Angeles in search of a writer who can rustle up a "kickass" rom-com: "a Bollywood film written in Hollywood style".
Yudi gets a lifeline. His drinking mate and foul weather aide is a married guy (Ranvir Shorey) who just can't shake off the vice-grip like that his wife has on his life. There is another bloke around Yudi whose voice he heeds, and he is his own inner self - an ill-kempt, cynical, irritable creature (Saif Ali Khan again) who does his best to warn him of the pitfalls that lie ahead. The biggest of them all is a rival writer (Ileana D'Cruz) whose pulpy romantic novel, Crazy Hearts, has dislodged Yudi's Operation Payback from the list of bestsellers. There is no love lost between the two writers, and sparks fly when a desperate Yudi begins to grab at straws for survival. As far as love stories go, Happy Ending goes nowhere. To be fair, the audience is warned as early as in the opening sequence in a movie hall.
Saif's Yudi is munching popcorn noisily as his girlfriend (Kareena Kapoor in a special appearance) tries to let him know that she loves him to distraction. The hero is certainly mighty distracted. He makes no effort at all to reciprocate the girl's emotion. She stomps off angrily and dumps him, declaring that their relationship is going nowhere.

Coincidently my films have been releasing during Christmas and each year, I have been showing the trailer during Diwali. So, we decided to do the same this Diwali as well. I hope the film works for us," Aamir told reporters here during the teaser launch of "PK".
He previously tasted box office successes with "Taare Zameen Par", "Ghajini" and "3 Idiots", which all came out during Christmas.
And it seems like the new Rajkumar Hirani directorial will join the list of his successful movies as Aamir Khan, often referred to as "Mr. Perfectionist", has again put in his best to make his character look convincing. "I am not used to eating paan, but for this film I have eaten as many as 50 to 60 paans in a day because of my character. We used to have a paanwala on the sets," he said.
The film also stars Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput.
I can't reveal much as the crux of the story will get revealed. There are lot of rumours. People feel that I am playing a double role, some feel I am playing an alien but wait till the film releases," he added.

Singham Returns
Cast: Ajay Devgn, Kareena
Kapoor, Amole Gupte, Anupam Kher, Zakir Hussain, Dayanand Shetty
Director : Rohit Shetty
Not for the lack of Rohit Shetty-style pyrotechnics. The sequel to ‘Singham’ is chock-full of the usual car-on-jeep action. Explosions go off at regular intervals. Shoot-outs—one really well-shot– occur frequently. Like last time, invincible cop Bajirao Singham cracks a carbine single-handedly when the going gets tough. He also strides in slow-mo down rows of cheering extras when he is not rising out of the water, droplets dripping down his bare rippling chest, male eye candy to his admiring lady love Avni ( Kapoor).
It’s all there, including the strictly kindergarten level plotting. This time around, the bad guy is a godman ( Gupte) who wears white robes and does ‘kaali kartoot’ which includes rape, plunder and pillage. And the good guy is an elderly statesman ( Kher), who is setting up a new party with ‘yuva khoon’. Between the two is the brave cop Singham, whose chief job is spraying bullets and stopping the baddies in their tracks.
When a superstar’s leg is pulled, even if mildly, you are grateful. Because you know everyone is in on it, the star, the director, and the audience. Devgn’s very buff Singham is also smartly made the butt of an ageist joke, with both his colleagues and his girl poking fun at his looking ‘older’. We smile. But it is choked off right there, and a distinctly worn Devgn goes right back to being dour, and heavy-footed. Gupte’s manically over-the-top 80s style ‘dhoort sadhu’ is just right for Shetty’s comic-book style. That’s what worked in Shetty’s previous outing ‘Chennai Express’, in which Shah Rukh Khan busily sent himself up with a nudge-and-a-wink. His leading lady, Deepika, was even more fun. The film was broad and corny, but it worked because of the irrepressible lead pair and the director’s determination to not ruin all that rapid-fire Tamil by translation, and the addition of dollops of cheese.
Here, the action shifts to Mumbai, with the film ratcheting its Maratha pride to the max. You can put yourself out to catch some contemporary political references ( an old Gandhian `neta’ with shades of Anna gathering young people who want to change India ), but it becomes too much effort after a while. It’s difficult to believe in Kapoor’s motor-mouth ‘mulghi’, but she is so clearly there just to deliver her scenes and scoot, and so cheerful while she’s at it, that you don’t really mind.Somewhere in there is a line that Ms Kapoor is made to mouth, about `family audiences’. This is clearly the director poking fun at the tyranny of ‘the family audience’. You wish there was more of it. The rest is drearily by the numbers.![]() |

Happy New Year
Happy New Year is a 2014 Indian caper action comedy film directed by Farah Khan and produced
by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment. The film has an ensemble cast,
which includes Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani,
Vivaan Shah and Jackie Shroff. The film is distributed worldwide by Yash Raj Films.[1] The film

(2004) and Om Shanti Om (2007), the latter of which also featured Padukone as the female lead.
The film belongs to a different genre of musical heist.
The film released on Diwali, 24 October 2014,[2] in three different languages: Hindi, Tamil
The film opens in Dubai at the Finals of WDC (World Dance Championship) where a spot boy runs
and tells some men that team INDIA is missing. The film then goes to a flashback. Chandramohan
"Charlie" Sharma (Shah Rukh Khan) is a street fighter who longs for revenge for his father who
was framed as a thief by Charan Grover (Jackie Shroff). He makes a mastermind plan to steal the
Shimmer diamonds from the Shalimar custody from Grover and to frame him just like he had done
to his father, Manohar Sharma (Anupam Kher). However, in order to do this he needs to form a
team. First he finds his childhood friend Jagmohan "Jag" Prakash (Sonu Sood), a former bomb
disposal squad captain. Then he finds a safe cracker, Temhton "Tammy" Irani (Boman Irani),
his father's best friend and a hacker, Rohan Singh (Vivaan Shah), Jag's nephew. When they
realise that they need to have the finger prints of Charan's son, Vikki Grover (Abhishek
Bachchan), Charlie finds Nandu Bhide, a look alike of Vicky. They start planning to steal
the diamonds.
Now they only have one problem, they have to take part in World Dance Championship. The Shalimar
diamonds are going to be held in the Atlantis hotel, and during the same time the WDC will be
taking place. To get in Atlantis and steal the diamonds, they must participate. As hard as they
try, they can't dance. So they find a bar dancer, Mohini Joshi (Deepika Padukone)
to teach
them how to dance without telling her their plan. After a lot of rehearsals and cheating,
Team Diamonds become Team India in WDC. During this time period, Charlie and Mohini start
falling in love with each other.
When they arrive at Dubai, everyone dislikes them including Grover. However they rehearse and
become semi finalists. Their plan was to steal the diamonds after dancing in the semi final,
but they have to change their plan as the diamonds are reaching on New Year's Eve instead of
Christmas. Unexpectedly, they are chosen as finalists as Charlie had saved a young boy's life
from the rivals team and left his own performance.
Things take a turn when Mohini over hears Charlie going through the plan. Just as she is about
to leave, Charlie stops her and explains why they had to do this. He also reveals that his
father is not in jail but committed suicide. Mohini decides to help the other five. On the
night of the finals, everything goes as planned and they manage to steal the diamonds.
Mohini realises that the crowd is waiting for them to perform and decides to stay as their
country would be let down. Rohan decides to help Mohini. Suddenly, Tammy realises that
Mohini is right and he, Nandu and Jag decide to go to perform, leaving Charlie alone.
During the performance, Charlie makes an unexpected entry and the team perform extremely
well. When Grover realises that the diamonds are missing he instantly blames Team India but
as the whole team are dancing, he is arrested, just like planned. Team India are declared
the winners of World Dance Championship 2014. Just as the police are taking Grover away,
Charlie reveals who he actually is to Charan and manages to find justice for his father
. The film ends with Mohini opening her dance school and Charlie proposing to her with a
ring made of a Shalimar diamond and the team becoming 'winners' from 'losers'.

Hate Story 2
Hate Story 2 is an upcoming Bollywood erotic thriller film directed by Vishal Pandya.Produced by T-Series Films, it stars Surveen Chawla, Jay Bhanushali and Sushant Singh in pivotal roles. It is the sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit Hate Story starring Paoli Dam and Gulshan Devaiya.Hate Story 2 is slated to release on 18 July 2014 along with Amit Sahni Ki List and Pizza 3D.
Sex, Sex And More Sex; well that’s what Hate Story 2 is all about. Hate Story 2 stars Jay Bhanushali, Surveen Chawla, Sushant Singh and is a sequel of Paoli Dam and Gulshan Deviah starrer Hate Story.
One look at the trailer and you can predict the story. What’s upsetting, is the fact that one has tried to just stuff love making scenes, so as to attract the viewers which is sad. Well, if one wants to watch such stuff, then all of it and more is freely available on the net.
Anyway, coming back to Hate Story 2, the film is a typical revenge story with dollops of skin show, thrown in. The film has been directed by Vishal Pandya and also features Sushant Singh as the antagonist.
Hate Story 2, is a story of a young photographer from Mumbai who uses her mind to play games against a high profile Hindu rightist leader and where it leads her.
The Censor Board has categorically told the producers of Hate Story 2, that they cannot allow this trailer to be aired on television. This has forced the makers to snip certain explicit portions.
Off the cast, Surveen Chawla is most of the time without clothes, Jay Bhanushali looks very out of place, and Sushant Singh is the only one who has some heavy dialogues, and something else to do apart from making love.
